• Etsy has some 20.8 million buyers, compared to Amazon’s 278 million.

This development is the latest headache for Etsy, which has seen its stock price fall precipitously after its recent IPO amid reports that many goods sold on there are counterfeit.

Although there were few details in the emails that vendors received, the Wall Street Journal reports that several Etsy sellers are surprised and intrigued by this new opportunity at Amazon. The e-commerce giant’s reach dwarfs Etsy’s, although Etsy has several perks directed at the artisan community, such as lower commissions and fees and opportunities for offline commerce.
