Tie Dye Feast

As the temperature rises and vibrant color patterns become the norm, the increasingly popular tie-dye style from the 1990’s is becoming a hot commodity for streetwear enthusiasts. Filthy Rebena’s shop is bursting with original tie-dye designs from the 1990’s.  Rebena’s tie-dyed stock mainly consists of fashionable, handmade, artwork sundresses that were once sold at high prices in […]

Dressed In Greed

Do you buy fast fashion?  You can’t beat yourself up too much about it.  It’s the fashion industry’s responsibility to manufacture clothing in an ethical manner.  Sadly, corporations do not value lives as much as they do profit.  Stories of forced child labor, treacherous working conditions and toxic pollutants poisoning communities appear regularly.  Next time […]

Petrichor Protection

The rain won’t stop but we’ve got nowhere to go. We curl up in the window with a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of something stronger and stare at the passing gloom. The tempo begins to caress our thoughts whispering to our bodies to hush and hibernate until the scent of petrichor energizes our souls.

Fluff Cuff

A fox fur Fendi ear cuff?  Yes, it’s a thing and it’s ruffling Rebena’s feathers!  Above is DJ Hannah Bronfman sporting the ear fluff.  Talk about hearing an extraordinary bauble beat.  Ah, if you can find one for a decent price, we’re all ears.

September Indie

Rising at the crack of dawn and I gotta think about what wisecracks I’m going to drop along the way.

Winding Down

Ah, Summer is winding down so be sure to take in the sights and smells in while the sun is still shining.  Today we are spending the day floating in the middle of Lake Ontario. Floating on our backs, watching the clouds passing by overhead.  Lazy smirks on our faces, feeling the fish swishing by.  Here’s a […]

Pretty Clothes, Ugly Reality

Following January’s violent crackdown on Cambodian garment workers, a group of women decided they wanted a new way to draw attention to the workers’ struggle; something different where workers could express for themselves what was really going on. They decided on a fashion show where workers would model the brand-name clothes they make everyday in […]
