Pop-Up Markets for Vintage Clothing in London, ON
Feb 13, 2018
1. Punk Rock Flea Market
Venue
Call The Office, 216 York St, London, Ontario
What on earth is going on? This is a question asked by curious passersby when they see the massive lineup forming outside Call The Office. No, it’s not the new iPhone being released, it’s people scrambling to get their paws on one of the free swag bags that are given to the first 50 people who make it into the one and only Punk Rock Flea Market.
But it’s not just the swag bags that excite people. When you make it into the venue, theres loud as heck music, booze, retro pinball machines, and of course amazing vendors. You’ll be pleased to learn that there are vendors set up outside on the patio as well, so you can continue your shopping while working on that tan of yours.
Punk Rock Flea Market went from a small underground event to an exciting community gathering that attracts vendors and shoppers from all over Southern Ontario. Vintage lovers will be excited to learn that some of the best vintage clothing brands in London and area have been found at this pop-up market before, including Filthy Rebena Vintage, Raggedy Antics, Blue Pepper Vintage, and Mannish Vintage.
The next Punk Rock Flea Market will be Spring 2018. The exact date is TBA.
2. Boho Bazaar Night Market
Venue
Purdy Natural, 111 Mount Pleasant Ave, London Ontario
The daily 9-5 grind is soooo drab. Good thing there’s killer parties like the Boho Bazaar Night Market to keep us Londoners sane. We owe Nicole Kirkpatrick and Rokhsana Purdy a cup of hot tea for starting this night market in 2017.
The Boho Bazaar is held at sunset during the summer, tucked away in a wonderful backyard shared by Purdy Natural and Shangrila Yoga. With everyone done work for the day, the vibe could only be described as magical. Friendly, unhurried shoppers are everywhere, soaking in live tunes and sippin’ tonics while they drift from vendor to vendor hunting for their next find. We recommend bringing your most realistic friend with you – they will persuade you from renting out a space in the backyard and living there until the end of time.
One of the great parts is that the organizers strive to keep the Boho Bazaar fresh by consistently bringing in hot new vendors, making it a great option to find gifts and vintage clothing in London Ontario.
The next Boho Bazaar Night Market will be held in May 2018 and will occur monthly until September.
3. Old South Artisan & Vendor Market
Venue
Wortley Road Public School, 301 Wortley Rd, London Ontario
What comes to mind when you think about the word “wholesome?” Perhaps a game of hopscotch, or some organic strawberries? Truth be told, the Old South Artisan & Vendor Market, held at Wortley Road Public School in Wortley Village, is basically the synonym of wholesome. It’s a fundraiser for the school! Originally, it was called the “Mother’s Day Sale” and was the go to event if you were looking to pick up a gift for that sweet, loving mother of yours.
Times have changed though. Although it’s still a fundraiser, it’s not just for vendors selling Mother’s Day gifts anymore. You will find a diverse group of over 70 vendors there selling a range of items from food to home decor to clothing.
The day starts early as the vendors arrive to set up at 8:00AM. The empty school gym is quickly transformed into a sea of colourful displays. Food trucks set up shop outside, and the smell of mouth-watering food starts to waft through the air as the outdoor vendors set their stuff up as well. Finally, the doors open and the shoppers begin to drift in.
Here’s a fun fact about Wortley Village: it was voted Canada’s Best Neighbourhood in the “Great Places in Canada” 2013 competition. It’s not hard to see why – this is a close knit community with a ton of character. Take a walk through and you might easily mistake yourself for being in an old European town. It’s best known for its 19th-century homes, eclectic array of shops and cafes, and of course community events like the Old South Artisan and Vendor Market.
The next Old South Artisan & Vendor Market will be held on Saturday April 28th, 2018 from 10AM to 4PM.
